PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR LIBRARY TEAM MEMBERS

WHO?

The North East, North Central and Kootenay Library Federations and Royal Roads University (RRU) – Continuing Studies have formed a learning partnership to offer leading-edge applied and professional skill-building courses. The courses are designed to cultivate the necessary skills, attitudes, behaviours and actions required for library staff to advance their competencies and creativity, awareness and understanding, problem-solving and innovative abilities, communication skills, personal resilience and confidence. The Libraries Branch, Ministry of Education, is providing substantial financial support for this initiative.

WHAT?

Facilitating Learning – Fostering the Development of Others

This 8 week online course is designed as a practical introduction to adult learning: just enough theory to guide practice with a variety of practical facilitation skills, tools and designs. Participants are expected to bring a group learning challenge from their workplace for practical application of concepts and techniques covered in the course. Participants can expect approximately 6 hours of work each week, including reading, online discussion posts and application of their learning at work.
